Asfiyatun, a 60-year-old grandmother from Pegirikan Village, Semampir District, Surabaya, East Java, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for a drug case. The trial was held at the Surabaya District Court on Monday (24/7/2023). He was found guilty of receiving a package containing 17 kilograms of cannabis ordered by his son, Santoso.
Santoso is a convict in a drug case who is serving his sentence at the Semarang prison. From behind the detention cell, he ordered 17 kilograms of marijuana from Lampung and sent it to his mother's house in Surabaya.
The case started in January 2023. That day at around 22.00 WIB, Asfiyatun was visited by a person who was later identified with the initials P who is now on the wanted list (DPO). At that time, P told Asfiyatun that he ordered a package of cannabis from Santoso and had already handed over Rp. 32.5 million or ($2,110 USD).
Even though I have paid, the items ordered have not come down. Asfiyatun was surprised and admitted that he did not know about the incident. Three days later, P returned to Asfiyatun's house and asked the same thing. At the same time, P also called Pi (DPO) to come to Asfiyatun's house.
Through Pi's cellphone, P contacted Santosa who was in prison, but Santoso's cellphone was not active. Then P contacted K (DPO) and asked about his marijuana order, which had not been delivered. At that time, Asfiyatun asked K to help his son.
On January 17, 2023, Asfiyatun received the package from Lampung via a freight forwarder with the sender's address in the name of Siti Aminah and the recipient's address in the name of Santoso. After receiving the package, Asfiyatun immediately handed over the package to Pi and P.
On January 18, 2023, Pi and P open the package and find 17 kilograms of marijuana inside. Pi and P then share the marijuana with several other people.
