According to the news reports, Korean soprano singer Lee Sang Eun died on July 6, 2023 at the age of 46. She was found dead in a bathroom at the Grand Hall of Gimcheon Culture and Art Center, where she was supposed to perform “Carmina Burana” at the 33rd Regular Concert of the Gimcheon Municipal Choir. The police are investigating her death but did not suspect foul play. The cause of death is not yet known.
Lee Sang Eun was a celebrated singer who graduated from the Mannes School Of Music in New York and won the female musician of the year at the Korean Music Awards in 2004 and 2006. She is remembered as a beloved soprano singer by her fans and colleagues.
Lee Sang Eun (1977-2023) was a South Korean soprano singer and songwriter who performed under the stage name Lee Tzsche. She debuted in 1988 and released 15 full-length albums in her career. She was known for her androgynous look, her English and Japanese songs, and her collaborations with various musicians.
She studied at Seoul Arts High School, Seoul National University, and Mannes School of Music in New York. She won several awards, including the Rookie Artist Award at the Golden Disc Awards in 1988 and the Female Musician of the Year at the Korean Music Awards in 2004. She passed away on July 6, 2023, at the age of 46, in a bathroom few minutes before her performance at the Gimcheon Culture and Art Center. The cause of her death is still under investigation.
