Being a singer can be a rewarding and fulfilling career, but it also comes with many challenges and difficulties. Some of the hardest things about being a singer are:
Maintaining health. Singers rely on their voice as their instrument, so they have to take good care of it and avoid habits that can damage it, such as smoking, drinking, shouting, or overusing it. They also have to deal with stress, fatigue, and emotional issues that can affect their performance and mental health.
Facing competition and criticism. Singers have to deal with a lot of pressure and expectations from the audience, the industry, and themselves. They have to constantly improve their skills, find their niche, and stand out from the crowd. They also have to cope with rejection, negative feedback, and discrimination that can hurt their confidence and self-esteem.
Managing finances and projects. Singers often work as self-employed or freelance artists, which means they have to handle their own taxes, contracts, bookings, marketing, and expenses. They also have to fund their own projects, such as recording albums, making videos, or touring. Singers may not have a stable or regular income and may struggle to make ends meet or afford the lifestyle they want.
Balancing work and life. Singers have to work long and irregular hours, often in the evenings and weekends. They may have to travel frequently and be away from their family and friends for long periods of time. They may also have to sacrifice their personal life, hobbies, or interests for their career. Singers may find it hard to maintain healthy relationships or have a normal social life.
These are just some of the challenges that singers face in their career. Maybe for that reason some people decide to stop being a singer. Some have switched professions to become farmers, some are unemployed, some are only housewives, some are officials.
