Kailash Kher was born on 7 July 1973 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. His father was a Hindu priest and a folk singer, who taught him the basics of music. He left home at the age of 7-8 in search of a guru and learned music from around 15 teachers. He also participated in various musical competitions and events.
However, he did not get much recognition or support from his family or society. He faced financial difficulties and had to work as a tea vendor, a salesman, and a radio jockey to make ends meet. He also suffered from a throat infection that affected his voice. He moved to Delhi to pursue his musical career, but faced rejection and disappointment from many music directors and producers.

Kailash Kher breakthrough came in 2002, when he sang the song “Rabba Ishq Na Hove” for the film Andaaz. The song became a hit and brought him to the attention of the music industry. He then moved to Mumbai and started getting offers for singing and composing music for films, albums, and shows.
